Technology at Premiumeye Centers

Here in our clinics our surgeon utilizes only the most sophisticated, proven diagnostic tools to analyze his patients vision errors and the most precise lasers to correct refractive errors and treat eye diseases and disorders such as cataracts and glaucoma.

Visx WaveScan WaveFront System – The Visx WaveScan WaveFront System, manufactured by Abbott Medical Optics (AMO), is a digital diagnostic tool used in the CustomVue procedure, in which laser vision correction is individually tailored for each eye's distinct irregularities. The WaveScan WaveFront System provides a detailed map of the unique imperfections of each eye. This diagnosis, which is essentially a blueprint of the eye, is then used for a highly personalized LASIK surgery treatment, allowing Dr. Preschel to provide the most accurate possible vision correction procedure.

IntraLase FS Laser System – During the LASIK procedure, it is necessary to create a corneal flap, a thin, hinged layer of the outermost part of the eye, which is then lifted to allow the surgeon to operate on the exposed cornea. The IntraLase FS Laser, a femtosecond laser manufactured by AMO, is a highly precise tool used to create the corneal flap. By using the IntraLase laser rather than a microkeratome, a mechanical blade used in traditional LASIK, Dr. Preschel is able to minimize the risk of complications during the LASIK procedure and produce more exact vision correction outcomes.

Visx STAR S4 IR Excimer Laser – The Visx STAR S4 IR Excimer Laser, manufactured by AMO, is designed for use in the Advanced CustomVue laser vision correction procedure. The STAR S4 IR Excimer Laser offers automated iris registration (IR), which allows for more precise ablation of the cornea. It also features proprietary technology known as Variable Spot Scanning (VSS) and Variable Repetition Rate (VRR) pulsing, which permit a quicker, safer LASIK procedure.

Lumenis Selecta II Glaucoma Laser System – The Selecta II, manufactured by Lumenis, is a laser that is used to perform SLT (selective laser trabeculoplasty), a glaucoma treatment in which small holes are created in the eye's drainage angle in order to reduce intraocular pressure (IOP). Studies have shown that the Selecta II laser effectively reduces IOP without the heat damage associated with previous laser treatments, allowing the procedure to be repeated if necessary.

Stellaris Vision Enhancement System – The Stellaris Vision Enhancement System, manufactured by Bausch & Lomb, is a surgical instrument used during cataract surgery, when the patient's cataract-damaged natural lens is removed from the eye with a process known as phacoemulsification. The Stellaris system allows for maximum safety and precision by combining a highly advanced cutting device with precise fluid and vacuum control.

INFINITI Vision System – The INFINITI Vision System, manufactured by Alcon, is a surgical tool used in the phacoemulsification of lenses in cataract surgery. The INFINITI includes several ergonomic features that permit ease of accessibility and use, including a small, lightweight hand piece that allows surgeons the choice of ultrasonic oscillations, traditional ultrasound, or a combination of both. The INFINITI also utilizes superior energy and fluidics systems for optimum safety and effectiveness.
